Yuletide Letter 2022
Oct. 20th, 2022 03:17 pmhello there, o yule-writer! I’m glad we share some taste in itty bitty fandoms :3
I like all these fandoms a lot and I hope you have fun writing for me!
(also i've been requesting Kirielle from MoL longer than anything or anyone else; pls don't take the disproportionate sizes of the prompts as indicative of anything lmao)
I'm Elsin on ao3, and my previous letters can be found here and here.
I have treats open and if you want to do something in some other medium feel free to make that!!
- plotty fics
- Secret identity and disguise shenanigans, the more layers to them and more absurdity the better
- Casual gender nonconformity
- Time travel and time loops are always fun
- A focus on family and/or friendship, especially characters realizing they’re not nearly as alone as they think they are, and just generally characters who like each other and enjoy spending time together
- Found family; families of choice
- Character studies
- Worldbuilding
- Canon-divergence AUs and missing scenes; things set pre- or post- or mid-canon
- What a character would perceive as "corruption" into becoming their own best self
- non-con/dub-con
- explicit sexual content
- incest (incl. adoptive/chosen family)
- a/b/o
- mpreg
- non-canonical permanent major character death
- complete downer endings
- hurt no comfort
- relentless despair, self-loathing, or self-doubt
- on-page deliberate self-harm (generalized self-destructive behavior is okay)
- on-page suicide
- gore
- graphic physical trauma
- character bashing
- cringe comedy
- fic that’s all about real-world bigotries or real-world politics
- specific real-world events of 2020-2022
- marginalized identities as the main focus of a fic
- unrequested romance as the main plot
- any bigotry-motivated violence
- full setting aus
This is a long webnovel, found in multiple locations: https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2961893/1/Mother-of-Learning, https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/21220/mother-of-learning, possibly other webfiction sites but I haven't checked them
I've requested four characters, but you only need to include one of them in your fic. You can totally put some (or all!) of them together if you want to, but I've prompted for them separately.
fandom dnw
- physical parental abuse
- significant exaggeration of canonical family dysfunction
- Zach/Zorian (as in the / relationship. the characters are fine lol)
- explicit permanent erasure of time traveler characters in your work who weren’t erased in canon
- original!Kirielle dying at all, either from plot events or getting her body stolen by her looping counterpart.
hi hello i really love Kirielle Kazinski, if you couldn't tell. whatever you might give me about her, i will love you forever for it.
If you want to focus on Kirielle’s relationship with someone else, for Kirielle and Zorian, I love their dynamic! And I’d really enjoy seeing their relationship developing in real time, rather than a constantly looping world. I think it would be great to see either of them defending the other to their parents—and maybe Zorian ends up with custody of Kiri, there’s definitely things to explore there. For Kirielle and Nochka, they’re adorable and I’d love a further development of their friendship, especially getting to see it grow and develop over the months and years after the invasion. If you want to write about Kiri and Zach, these two seem to have a lot of fun teaming up against Zorian lol, I really enjoy their dynamic and how they play off each other. Or you could go with someone else entirely!
I’d also be here for any sort of solo story about/character study of Kiri, really, but I’m gonna prompt a few specific things anyway.
• She grows up a little, and becomes a student mage—what’s that like for her, especially having received Zorian’s tutelage?
• She grows up a little, and doesn’t seriously pursue magic—does she devote herself more seriously to art? Do something else? Get away from her parents, and get to just be a kid for a little longer than her siblings?
• By some mechanism, Kirielle gets pulled into the time loop, whether with Zorian, instead of him, or in some utterly unrelated incident. What’s it like to grow older and older in life experience while your body remains stubbornly nine? How does this change the story? If you go this route I’d rather looper!Kiri not be erased in the timeline of the fic—ending the fic before it becomes an issue or letting her escape back to the real world are what I’d rather see.
• For some reason—there’s actually a fair amount that’d have to change here, but shhh this is my ridiculous self-indulgent prompt—Kirielle is the Controller. How does she react to being in a looping world, with no one else looping she can possibly compare notes with? What does she do with her time? Why did the angels choose her? How does this impact canon—is Jornak even a problem, does the whole Sovereign Gate affair pass much as it was meant to rather than the debacle that became of it in canon?
• For more elaboration on my ideas about Kirielle-the-time-traveler, and prompts about deaf!Kirielle, please see my Id Pro Quo 2021 letter.
Of all the Kazinski siblings, we see Fortov the least, and we know that Zorian doesn’t like him much at all, but it’s also pretty clear that Zorian isn’t a totally reliable narrator when it comes to Fortov. So tell me about him! What’s it like to be Fortov Kazinski, generally charismatic middle child and sometimes-definitely-a-dick who isn’t a total overachiever in any field?
If you want specific prompts, consider elaborating on what exactly happened between him and Ibery that she always ended up in the purple creeper patch.
Neolu very much seems to be someone who's got an interesting story going on that has nothing whatsoever to do with the main drama; I'd love to see something exploring that! She's initially presented as not a very serious person by Zorian's perspective, but when we actually see her there's more to her than that--tell me about her!
Or maybe a story about one of those loops when Zach told her he was a time traveler and they went exploring together?
I like Raynie a lot; we don’t get a whole lot on her, but what we do get paints her as someone who’s having a very interesting life of her own, utterly divorced from the timeloop shenanigans (except re: the shifter children thing). I like her and Kiana’s friendship, too; I like how when we finally see more of them both we learn more about how they’re similar and different.
If you want to go pre-canon I’d really love something with Raynie initially going to Cyoria and how she befriended Kiana in the first place (or, perhaps more likely, how Kiana befriended her; I somehow doubt that Raynie age 13, recently semi-exiled from her tribe, was particularly in search of outsider friends).
For post-canon, really, anything dealing with the fallout of all the things that go down in the real world would be fantastic too.
A series of youtube shorts, available here in a convenient playlist.
Requested Characters: Leo Collins, Rosamund Hawkhurst, Caroline
This whole series is unabashedly and committedly tropey; I'm really enjoying the simultaneous commitment to the tropes and tongue-in-cheek lampshading of them, and the back-and-forth between Caroline and Rosamund across the fourth wall.
I think here it would be fun to do something sort of mimicking the style of the shorts--though how exactly you'd pull that off I leave up to your discretion--or maybe something with Caroline as a sort of Lemony Snicket-style narrator? Where the narrator is not a physical presence in the story being related, but is still very much a character.
Or perhaps you have a better idea!
This is a three-episode minicampaign and can be found in the Friends at the Table podcast feed; it's somewhere between 7 and 9 hours in total, I think.
No specific character requested--characters in the tagset are Caspian, Fawn, Harp, and Piccolo, any of them can be the focus!

I love this playthrough of this game. I love how weird and ephemeral and overtly magical it is, how that magic manifests in different ways in different places but is still very much present even as it's dying. The sense of melancholy, of an old magical world and a changing new one, pervades the game and it's a tone I sort of fell in love with. I just would like more of this world, and the people who live in it through its changes.
A lot of these characters are ambiguous and old in a way a lot of elements of the story are, and I would love to see something that explores that. Fawn and Caspian have histories that stretch back long years; they both used to be very different people. Harp (and the Magus too) are old, too, but they don’t seem to have changed as much—but still they have Existed in the world as it has lived through this age of magic.
Piccolo, otoh, is young; and he’s the one who continues the most as he was, into the new world, with the magic still present but irrevocably changed… how does that go, for him?
This is a particular staging of the play; the listing on the theater's site can be found here
Requested characters: Maxine Hadley, Margot Wendice
fandom dnw
Focus on Tony (he can be present, but like... pls don't make him the focus character lol) | romantic or sexual Margot/Tony (references to their courtship or marriage or similar are okay, but not as like... an active relationship within the fic itself pls)
Also, an addendum to one of my standard dnws: since the play does involve, yknow, attempted murder of a woman in love with another woman, I changed the "bigotry-motivated violence" dnw to "non-canonical bigotry motivated violence" so no one has to worry over the exact balance of Tony's motivations
okay, so, this request is v much a longshot, since I'm requesting a specific run of a play that, as far as I know, is so far the only run of that particular iteration, but what's yuletide for if not obscure longshot requests? I'd love anything with Margot and Maxine--pre-canon, post-canon, mid-canon where Maxine's trying to figure out what happened and Margot's also trying to make sense of things... if you want to write something during the time they're apart (either when Max is in America or Margot's in prison) then both characters don't need to be physically present, but they should both be important to the story nonetheless.
I like all these fandoms a lot and I hope you have fun writing for me!
