Hello! Sorry if you've been waiting on me to finish this letter, I signed up very last-minute and then was busy for a couple days. I've added at least a little bit of commentary on things I'd more specifically like for all these fandoms, though not every freeform has specific notes attached to it. Apologies if you've come here seeking further guidance on OW; that's the place where I found I had the least to say. Hopefully it will still be helpful.

There are a lot of directions you could go with this one! I think some of these tags lend themselves more to fics that would be classed under "stories about what the exiled one and the other got up to, before the exile happened" and some more favor things in line with the canon, with its shifting, ephemeral sense of time and the exiled one's Quest to get back to their elsewhere.
This is a relationship that I really like for its desperate devotion against all odds; through enmity and friendship, across dreams and lost time and spanning two universes, they remain in orbit around each other--or at least we know this for the exiled one, but it seems true for the other as well, and I think most of what I'm hoping for here is something that explores that aspect of their relationship in some way.

Alternatively, art! I don't have any specific art prompts, beyond the tags, but there's definitely places you could go with this--the orchard? one of the drawings the exiled one makes? walking through the void?

I did make a list of general art likes a while back, though (I also like other things! but these are the ones I have managed to articulate lmao):

Mother of Learning: Neolu, Fortov, and Kiana & Raynie

From what we get to see of her, Neolu very much seems to be someone who's got an interesting story going on that has nothing whatsoever to do with the main drama; I'd love to see something exploring that! She's initially presented as not a very serious person by Zorian's perspective, but when we actually see her there's more to her than that--tell me about her!
Or maybe a story about one of those loops when Zach told her he was a time traveler and they went exploring together?

Solo: Fortov Kazinski

Of all the Kazinski siblings, we see Fortov the least, and we know that Zorian doesn’t like him much at all, but it’s also pretty clear that Zorian isn’t a totally reliable narrator when it comes to Fortov. So tell me about him! What’s it like to be Fortov Kazinski, generally charismatic middle child and sometimes-definitely-a-dick who isn’t a total overachiever in any field?

Kiana & Raynie

I like Raynie a lot; we don’t get a whole lot on her, but what we do get paints her as someone who’s having a very interesting life of her own, utterly divorced from the timeloop shenanigans (except re: the shifter children thing). I like her and Kiana’s friendship, too; I like how when we finally see more of them both we learn more about how they’re similar and different.
(I do also like Kiana! But she has somewhat less of a canonical presence than Raynie, and I have less to say about her individually.)
If you want to go pre-canon I’d really love something with Raynie initially going to Cyoria and how she befriended Kiana in the first place (or, perhaps more likely, how Kiana befriended her; I somehow doubt that Raynie age 13, recently semi-exiled from her tribe, was particularly in search of outsider friends).
For post-canon, really, anything dealing with the fallout of all the things that go down in the real world would be fantastic too. Maybe Kiana realizes at some point the ways in which she’s improved from coming with Raynie to Zorian’s study sessions?

As for the tags, I think it would be fun to make any of these characters into time travelers! By which, of course, I mean it could very well be a massive fucking disaster but, like, in a fun way--for us, not them, of course. Alternatively: what do Zach and Zorian's shenanigans in the time loop look like from an outsider's perspective?
I nominated Fortov and Neolu as solo characters, so if you want to write them for a relationship study, it's up to you who you want to put them with! All of these characters have complicated families--except maybe Kiana, since we don't see her family--but there's certainly plenty you can explore there, too.
As for the deaf character tag--that would be something that would in some way reshape the way these characters interact with the world; how does that change them and their perspective and actions? If you go for this tag, consider my "focus on marginalized identities" dnw waived. I'd also prefer if you didn't write a narrative in which deafness in the MoL world has a quick, easy magical cure; that's not enforceable, but I'd appreciate it.

For Kirielle and Zorian, I love their dynamic! And I’d really enjoy seeing their relationship developing in real time, rather than a constantly looping world. I think it would be great to see either of them defending the other to their parents—and maybe Zorian ends up with custody of Kiri, there’s definitely things to explore there.

If you want to focus on Kirielle’s relationship with someone else, for Kirielle and Nochka, they’re adorable and I’d love a further development of their friendship, especially getting to see it grow and develop over the months and years after the invasion. If you want to write about Kiri and Zach, these two seem to have a lot of fun teaming up against Zorian lol, I really enjoy their dynamic and how they play off each other. Or you could go with someone else entirely!

I’d also be here for any sort of solo story about/character study of Kiri, really, but I’m gonna prompt a few specific things anyway.
- She grows up a little, and becomes a student mage—what’s that like for her, especially having received Zorian’s tutelage?
- She grows up a little, and doesn’t seriously pursue magic—does she devote herself more seriously to art? Do something else? Get away from her parents, and get to just be a kid for a little longer than her siblings?

So let's consider: Kirielle-the-time-traveler.
- Maybe by some mechanism, she gets pulled into the time loop, whether with Zorian, instead of him, or in some utterly unrelated incident. What’s it like to grow older and older in life experience while your body remains stubbornly nine? How does this change the story?
- For some likely-absurd reason, Kirielle is the Controller. How does she react to being in a looping world, with no one else looping she can possibly compare notes with? What does she do with her time? Why did the angels choose her? How does this impact canon—is Jornak even a problem, does the whole Sovereign Gate affair pass much as it was meant to rather than the debacle that became of it in canon?

Or, what about controller!Zorian? Presumably he'd eventually put it together that Kirielle wants to go to Cyoria, just as he did in canon; how do things shift and change, with no Zach and so much more time for his relationship to Kirielle to change?

Or, or: one or both of them is deaf. I've talked a bit about deaf!Kirielle here but I don't think I've ever talked about deaf!Zorian anywhere--I think it would have a very, hmm, interesting shall we say impact on his grumpiness and inferiority complex that he has at the start of canon.

Are these characters foils for each other? Friends, enemies, frenemies--some or all of the above? How does that shift over the story?

Well, the second one doesn't have to be identity shenanigans, although I do think it would be fun! Either way, both of these relationships lend themselves more easily to light shenanigans than the hero & villain pairs do. These both seem like fun pairs to play off of each other, though!

The Adventure Zone

- I do like Barry/Lup and Taako/Kravitz as ships; this isn't a request for them obviously, as this is gen freeform ex, but if you want to include them as background elements that's fine.
- would prefer for the relationship between Taako and Lucretia to not be exclusively antagonistic; like, obviously if you set a fic post-canon that's going to be... complicated... but I'd prefer Taako to be something other than angry the whole time if you write them post-canon.
- I've not listened to Imbalance, so, uh, maybe note if you're going off of that?

Lup & Taako

These two are just absolutely ride or die for each other and I love that for them!! They start and end as Lup-and-Taako together against the world; it's a really fun dynamic.
One thing you could explore, if you want, is how they interact in the immediate aftermath of the day of story and song; like, yes, they'd do anything for each other, but Lup spent a decade stuck in an umbrella and Taako spent most of that decade having forgotten that she existed; once things have calmed down, and they're no longer, yknow, trying to save the world, how does that separation affect them?

Merle Highchurch & The Hunger | John

Merle and John have a really interesting dynamic between them--they're enemies to start with, and at the start it seems that John is... not all of the Hunger, not exactly, but very much of the Hunger. And then they keep talking, and John regains some of his humanity, and there's the irony that it's when he's become most himself that the Hunger has grown to its worst.
For these two I'd be interested in something exploring their relationship during the Stolen Century, or maybe an AU where John survives somehow and then of course has to relearn how to be a person?

Lucretia & Taako

This one... this one hurts, a bit. Because of course Lucretia was trying her best, but that doesn't change the fact that her actions badly hurt Taako, most of all in making him forget Lup. It's a difficult, tricky relationship, after Taako remembers; what becomes of their relationship, in the years after the day of story and song? Do they stay away from each other? Reconcile to some degree?
Alternatively, you could set something relatively angst-free (except for dramatic irony) in the Stolen Century, or something with one-sided complicatedness during the campaign...

Barry Bluejeans & Lucretia

Barry and Lucretia are to a certain degree complicated in the same way that Taako and Lucretia are; but not at all the same, in the details, both because Barry's rather more forgiving than Taako and also because Barry experienced that decade rather differently than Taako did--he wasn't reliant on Lup the way Taako was, and he got to actually try to search for her too. Still, it'll be awkward between them afterwards, certainly.
Alternatively, again: anything during the Stolen Century! or even before it, perhaps? At the IPRE, before they departed?
It might be a bit trickier, but it would also be very interesting to set an interaction between them in that decade on Faerun; human!Barry wouldn't know her, and lich!Barry might not be very happy with her, but how would it all work?

Merle Highchurch & Mavis

Merle's arc of reconnecting with his kids and becoming a better dad, especially to Mavis--his daughter by choice--is really sweet, and I guess I'd just like to see more with them bonding? She seems more consciously aware of what went on in her parents' marriage than Mookie, and Merle was gone for a while; what does it look like, them reconnecting, getting to know each other again?

Balance is a great arc for mixing wild shenanigans and absolutely gut-wrenching emotions; most of the relationships I've requested lean a bit more towards the melancholic than the wacky, but it's all down to where in the timeline you put it and what you choose to focus on really.

I like all these tags that I've requested, for the record! But I only really have super-specific thoughts about one tag, since that's the one that's least Just A Vibe lol.

For the tag I've requested that's the most specific-prompt-like/AU: Lup getting out early would have a lot of interesting repercussions, I think, since it is her absence that shapes everyone else; what happens if she's released before Taako is capable of remembering her? What if Lucretia found her, somehow, and realized what she had to do to let her out--what would she do then? This has the potential to be mostly-canon-compliant, or at least follow the rails that canon sets up, and also the potential to spin wildly off-track, and either way I think it would be interesting.

I’d love any sort of exploration of Taiven as a character—she’s a lot of things, many of them seeming a little contradictory. She’s a cheerful fighty-type character; she’s pretty; she’s kind of socially inept; she’s insecure; she’s actually quite young, though Zorian doesn’t see her as such. So tell me about her, and how these pieces fit together to make her who she is!
If you’re looking for specific prompts it would be fun to see how her and Zorian’s friendship used to be, in years past, though if you do that please don’t go into too much detail for the time he asked her out; I’m not sure I could handle the secondhand embarrassment lmao.

Enthusiastic Seeker of Novelty & Tinami Aope

These two have a really fun dynamic and I would love to see something further exploring that--in the real world, maybe, where it can progress into something longer-term than a month allows? How does Tinami feel about the aranea, once she knows them as beings instead of myths?

WB: Land Transportation Other Than Trains and Teleporting

We don’t see a lot of how people who aren’t mages and aren’t going so far that they need a train get around, other than on foot; that can’t be the only way. Tell me about the other options!

WB: Shifter Politics in Eldemar

This one is a bit… potentially tricky to write about, due to the real-world parallels inherent to the setup, but if you want to go for it I would be interested in an exploration of how the shifter tribes relate to Eldemar and to each other, and how Eldemar being a player impacts their relationships to each other.

The time-travel ones have the added aspect of one of the characters knowing what may yet come to pass, and the other not; this surely influences the dynamic in a variety of interesting ways. For the kid breaking their parent out, it’s a sort of role reversal (parents are usually the ones looking after children, not the other way around, after all) that I also thing would be a lot of fun!

As for visual design, I have yet to meet a dragon design I didn't like--wings? no wings? two, four, six, more limbs? feel free to get weird here if you want!
These tags give me the impression that the dragons are pretty big, but if you want to make them small instead I'm sure it'll be great!

Friends at the Table (Podcast)

first of all: the only part of Friends at the Table that I have actually listened to is the little Fall of Magic series; as the characters I have requested are from that game I do not expect this to be a problem but i thought it should be said.
secondly... I love this game. I love how weird and ephemeral and overtly magical it is, how that magic manifests in different ways in different places but is still very much present even as it's dying. The sense of melancholy, of an old magical world and a changing new one, pervades the game and it's a tone I sort of fell in love with.
They also describe a lot of very enchanting visuals; if you want to illustrate some of those as a comic you can put the focus wherever you want so long as you include something or someone I requested. I just would like more of this world, and the people who live in it through its changes.

Piccolo, otoh, is young; and he’s the one who continues the most as he was, into the new world, with the magic still present but irrevocably changed… how does that go, for him?
And for the anchors… idk I just thought that was a really cool concept, anything you want to explore with that I’d love to see.

So. Like I said, this ship waltzed into my brain one day and wouldn’t leave, and I have some Thoughts.

I really like the dynamic these two have, especially towards the end, and especially especially after Zorian leaves the loop; Quatach-Ichl was the best teacher Zorian ever had, and Zorian himself is no slouch at magic—Quatach-Ichl himself commissions divination compasses from him on at least one occasion.

Obviously, if you set this post-canon, he’ll be quite unhappy with Zorian getting him roasted and losing him his crown, but we can work past that! I’d love to see something set post-loop, with Zorian finding his way in the world, and figuring out where exactly he and QI stand with each other, or maybe something set late in the loop, with him and QI interacting with each other differently than usual, perhaps? Or even something years down the line, when we’ve settled into a new-ish status quo, but of course there’s that conflict bubbling up… Zorian isn’t very committed to Eldemar, as a concept, but he does care about its people in many ways, especially those he knows—and he knows many of them—and he doesn’t approve of Quatach-Ichl’s methods or moral system, which could be a fun source of tension!

I’d also enjoy tossing them into a situation where they have no choice but to interact at least civilly in order to get out, or have them both end up for whatever reason exploring the same location.

I’m okay with pretty much any intensity of shippiness here, from barely-there to pre-ship to them being thoroughly attached to each other, as much as they’d let themselves be. I really just want more of their canon dynamics with the added complexity of feelings lmao.

Silverlake & Alanic Zosk
For these two, I’d be very interested in something to do with Alanic’s backstory; Silverlake knew him as a young necromancer, so… what happened there? How did they know each other? Why was Alanic set on becoming a necromancer; clearly he got far enough to have soul sight himself—how’d he get that? Why did he leave the necromancer’s path to become a priest?

Fortov Kazinski
Of all the Kazinski siblings, we see Fortov the least, and we know that Zorian doesn’t like him much at all, but it’s also pretty clear that Zorian isn’t a totally reliable narrator when it comes to Fortov. So tell me about him! What’s it like to be Fortov Kazinski, generally charismatic middle child who isn’t a total overachiever in any field, unlike the rest of his siblings? Even Kirielle has her art.

Also, I’d be very down for a time looper!Fortov au.

Taiven, Zorian Kazinski & Taiven
Taiven! I don’t have any old prompts to cannibalize here, and I don’t have anything super specific, but! I like her a lot, I like her attitude and accidental abrasiveness and her dynamic with Zorian. I like how we see different sides of her emerge in response to Zorian’s variable behavior, and how even after Zorian surpasses her in combat ability she’s still very clearly far from helpless.

Xvim Chao & Alanic Zosk, Xvim Chao
For Alanic and Xvim, I dunno, this seemed fun? They’re both part of the “annoying but ultimately helpful teacher” club to Zorian, and they get along well with each other. They’re both a lot of fun and they play off each other well; just go wild here. I’m down for it if you are. [insert “I just think they’re neat” meme here, please.]

For Xvim, I really like him; he’s very obnoxious, through Zorian’s (and most of his students’) initial eyes, but he’s also very good, and he’s a fun kind of obnoxious, lmao.

Kiana & Raynie
Me? Latching onto a minor character in a big sprawling canon? It’s more likely than you think!

Anyway I like Raynie a lot; we don’t get a whole lot on her, but what we do get paints her as someone who’s having a very interesting life of her own, utterly divorced from the timeloop shenanigans (except re: the shifter children thing).

I like her and Kiana’s friendship, too; I like how when we finally see more of them both we learn more about how they’re similar and different.

For specific prompts, if you want to go pre-canon I’d really love something with her initial going to Cyoria and how she befriended Kiana in the first place (or, perhaps more likely, how Kiana befriended her; I somehow doubt that Raynie age 13, recently semi-exiled from her tribe, was particularly in search of outsider friends).

For post-canon, really, anything dealing with the fallout of all the things that go down in the real world would be fantastic too.

Kirielle Kazinski, Kirielle Kazinski & Zorian Kazinski
For Kirielle and Zorian, I love their dynamic! And I’d really enjoy seeing their relationship developing in real time, rather than a constantly looping world. I think it would be great to see either of them defending the other to their parents—and maybe Zorian ends up with custody of Kiri, there’s definitely things to explore there.

If you want to focus on Kirielle’s relationship with someone who isn’t Zorian, for Kirielle and Nochka, they’re adorable and I’d love a further development of their friendship, especially getting to see it grow and develop over the months and years after the invasion. If you want to write about Kiri and Zach, these two seem to have a lot of fun teaming up against Zorian lol, I really enjoy their dynamic and how they play off each other. Or you could go with someone else entirely!

I’d be here for any sort of solo story about/character study of Kiri, really, but I’m gonna prompt a few specific things anyway.

She grows up a little, and becomes a student mage—what’s that like for her, especially having received Zorian’s tutelage?

She grows up a little, and doesn’t seriously pursue magic—does she devote herself more seriously to art? Do something else? Get away from her parents, and get to just be a kid for a little longer than her siblings?

By some mechanism, Kirielle gets pulled into the time loop, whether with Zorian, instead of him, or in some utterly unrelated incident. What’s it like to grow older and older in life experience while your body remains stubbornly nine? How does this change the story? If you go this route I’d rather looper!Kiri not be erased in the timeline of the fic—ending the fic before it becomes an issue or letting her escape back to the real world are what I’d rather see.

For some reason—there’s actually a fair amount that’d have to change here, but shhh this is my ridiculous self-indulgent prompt—Kirielle is the Controller. How does she react to being in a looping world, with no one else looping she can possibly compare notes with? What does she do with her time? Why did the angels choose her? How does this impact canon—is Jornak even a problem, does the whole Sovereign Gate affair pass much as it was meant to rather than the debacle that became of it in canon?

Neoluma-Manu Iljatir & Zach Noveda, Zach Noveda
Assuming you don’t go for a setting AU, I’d generally prefer something set at least in part after the time loop begins, but beyond that I don’t have a strong preference for where in the timeline this might be set. Maybe something from before Zorian got looped in—maybe one of the iterations where Zach and Neolu just went off across the country having fun the whole month? Zach doing whatever, possibly very early on, or maybe him freaking out a little because what the hell, time travel is supposed to be impossible, and yet—what did he do in the start?

Or for post-canon, I’d really like an exploration of Zach, who’s got the lived-time of a middle-aged man and the body of a teenager—how does he relate to his classmates/other people in the real world, where everyone’s growing again? Maybe something about his lawsuit against his caretaker, or just a little thing with him, Zorian, and How Do You Live Normally, Again? This Is Hard, or some such thing.

Kael Tverinov
Kael is pretty great, honestly. A little junior necromancer, who wants to look after his daughter and be a great healer… idk, I just. I like him. Go wild. Pre-canon character study? Post-canon adventures in becoming a better healer? Spending six normal months in the Sovereign Gate and doubling it with Black Rooms and the Imperial Orb, and what that was like?

Silverlake (probably) isn’t as old as Quatach-Ichl, and she certainly isn’t as old as the Ghost Serpent, but she’s plenty old herself; what’s it like, having seen the world change so much around you? How did Alanic factor into her life—did he impact her at all?

So, these two are just… they’re old. They’re very old; QI, the younger, is still a thousand years old, and they’ve just seen so much?? I’d love some sort of exploration of the world’s history through either of their eyes.

For the Ghost Serpent, I’d be very interested in what it saw the other Branded Ones do that put it off of them so badly.

For QI, I’m interested both in the world history around him and also how he became what he is—why/how did he become a lich in the first place? Who was he before? Why did he get a divine blessing? What did he think of the gods falling silent? What was the Necromancer’s War like?

So we know that back in the day shaping exercises were less sophisticated, and now they’re quite intense; anything you want to give me about how we got from one place to another would be great!!

Pre-Train Transportation in Altazia
This is, you know, probably incredibly niche. But! My impression of their society is that it’s sort of mid-19th-century tech levels, so trains are still seeing major developments, and idk man I just want to know more about what people did for long-distance travel—especially those who can’t teleport—before trains were a thing/so common a thing. I would also be interested in the adjacent topic of intra-city transport; surely some people have other options than walking for a city that takes a good couple hours at least to cross on foot, like Cyoria?
